Wonders: An Immersive Experience

A VR experience that invites participants to encounter everyday labor through sound, touch, and surprise.

Visitors begin by listening to an audio landscape with misleading visual cues. What do they hear? A babbling brook? A thunderstorm? The sounds of nature? As the experience unfolds, participants are handed the objects responsible for these sounds and asked to identify them through touch alone.

The reveal comes in the second half of the experience: the "babbling brook" is sizzling frying oil, the "thundering storm" is a pillow being fluffed. The wonders participants imagined were not distant natural phenomena but ordinary acts of domestic labor.

By transforming household chores into moments of awe, the project draws attention to the often-overlooked work that sustains daily life. Globally, women spend an average of 4.2 hours per day on unpaid domestic and care work—2.5 times as much as men. Let us not overlook these wonders.
